Art Rooijakkers is a TV host from the Netherlands, known for his tv-series ‘Helden van de Wildernis’, or ‘Heroes of the Wild’, which portraits wildlife conservationists that live and work in remote areas.

These people often dedicate their entire life to conserving critically endangered species, which are of great importance to natural biodiversity and eventually to the survival of humanity.



Future For Nature Foundation

Future For Nature is a foundation that supports nature conservation by rewarding three outstanding wildlife conservationists each year with a prize of €50.000 to fund their work. The 2019 winners are: – Olivier Nsengimana: works to restore wild populations of Grey Crowned Cranes in Rwanda – Fernanda Abra: works on mapping roadkill in Brazil and provide safe underpasses for wildlife along Brazillian roads – Divya Karnad: works together with fishermen and chefs to reduce the effects of fishing on shark populations.


Future For Nature Academy

Future For Nature Academy is a side-organisation founded to get students and young nature enthusiasts involved with nature conservation. This year, the FFNA Day was organized at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and hosted by the well known TV host Art Rooijakkers from the Netherlands.
